Bin sticker design ideas

The layouts that work on a wheelie bin are short. A driver and a neighbour need to read them without stopping.

Bin Stickers UK is an independent sticker supplier. We are not a council or government waste service. Confirm collection days, missed bins and replacement bins on your council's official website.

Layouts that stay readable

  • Number only — BIN 123 or just 123. Best when the council number is the thing that identifies the bin.
  • Waste type, then number — GENERAL WASTE on the first line, 123 on the second. Use the words your council uses.
  • Number, then waste type — 123 above RECYCLING. Useful when several bins share a number and the service is what people mix up.
  • Street name, kept short — only if it fits in large type. A long street name in small type is harder to read than the number alone.

What to leave off

Skip slogans, QR codes that point at unofficial pages, and council logos. A logo implies the sticker was issued by the council. It was not. Do not print a phone number for a council unless you have copied it from their current official page and you are sure it is still in use.

Pick colours with the contrast guide, and size the sticker from the flat area you measured.

Shop designs

Ready-made stickers in the shop can be ordered as they are. A custom number is a separate layout using the same rules: large type, one or two lines, high contrast.
