Do bin stickers need to be weatherproof?
Yes. A wheelie bin sits in sun, rain and the weekly wash. Indoor paper labels and packing tape fail within weeks.
Bin Stickers UK is an independent sticker supplier. We are not a council or government waste service. Confirm collection days, missed bins and replacement bins on your council's official website.
What the sticker has to survive
- UV. A north-facing lid in summer is harder on vinyl than a shaded side panel.
- Rain and dew sitting under a loose edge.
- Pressure washers and stiff brushes. They lift edges.
- The lid flexing at the hinge. Vinyl on that line cracks even if the material is outdoor rated.
Our stickers are cut from outdoor vinyl for that use. They are not a substitute for a bin the council should replace because the body is split.
Washing the bin
Rinse with a hose and wipe with mild detergent. Do not aim a pressure washer at the edge of the letters. Do not use solvent, metho or abrasive cream on the face of the vinyl after it is applied. Those are for preparing bare plastic, not for cleaning the sticker.
If an edge lifts, press it down while the bin is dry and warm. If the number has faded to the point you cannot read it, replace it. See how long they last.
