What your council decides

There is no single UK bin calendar. The council that collects your waste decides the day, the containers and what belongs in each one. We sell stickers. We do not run collections.

Bin Stickers UK is an independent sticker supplier. We are not a council or government waste service. Confirm collection days, missed bins and replacement bins on your council's official website.

The council controls these

  • Collection day and frequency. Rubbish, recycling, food waste and garden waste can be weekly, fortnightly or less often, and they are often on different weeks. The calendar is on the council website.
  • Which bin is which. Residual waste, recycling, food waste and garden waste are not the same colour in every council. Scotland’s mygov.scot page says councils may use different colours for the same material.
  • Garden waste charges. Some councils charge for a garden-waste bin or permit. Ask the council. Do not assume a neighbouring area uses the same charge.
  • A number on the bin. Some councils print or sticker an identifier. Many do not. If you need an official number, ask the council. A sticker you buy here does not register the bin.
  • A missed collection. Report it to the council that serves the address, on their missed-bin page. See what to check first.

Where to read the rules

Find the council for the property, then open its waste or bins page. These government pages point you there. They do not list your street’s collection day.

Nation-by-nation notes are on bin collection by nation.

What a sticker does not do

A number, street or waste-type sticker does not change the collection day, book a return visit, or replace a damaged bin. It makes a bin easier to recognise. If you are ordering a street-name design, there is no live preview: you type the number and street, and the sticker is made to match that product.
