What to do if your bin was not collected
A missed collection is a council or contractor issue. Work through the checks below, then use the council's official missed-bin form or phone line.
Bin Stickers UK is an independent sticker supplier. We are not a council or government waste service. Confirm collection days, missed bins and replacement bins on your council's official website.
Check these before you report it
- Was it actually collection day? Open the council waste calendar for your address. Recycling, food waste and garden waste are often on a different week from residual waste. Bank holidays move some rounds.
- Was the bin out in time and reachable? Bins behind cars or under low branches are commonly skipped. The lid needs to close.
- Was the right bin out? A recycling crew will not empty residual waste. Colours are not the same in every council.
- Was there a contamination notice? Some crews leave a bin unemptied and tag it. Read the tag. The council page lists what belongs in each bin.
- Did the truck already pass the rest of the street? If neighbouring bins are still full, the round may not have reached you yet.
How to report it
Use the council that collects your waste, not a neighbouring council and not this website. In Scotland, mygov.scot links each council’s missed-bin page. Elsewhere, look on the council site for “missed bin” or “bin not collected”. Have ready:
- The service address.
- Which bin was missed: residual waste, recycling, food waste or garden waste.
- The date you put it out.
- Any number printed on the bin, if there is one. See how to find your bin number.
Follow the council’s time limit and whether they want the bin left out for a return run.
What we cannot do
Ordering a sticker does not book a collection, replace a damaged bin, or log a missed service. If the bin is cracked, lost or stolen, ask the council about a repair or replacement.
