Bin collection in England
In England, the local council arranges household rubbish and recycling. Defra’s Simpler Recycling rules set which waste streams must be collected. They do not publish your street’s collection day.
Bin Stickers UK is an independent sticker supplier. We are not a council or government waste service. Confirm collection days, missed bins and replacement bins on your council's official website.
What the official pages say
GOV.UK says that from 31 March 2026, by default, waste collectors must collect food and garden waste, paper and card, other dry recyclable materials (glass, metal and plastic, including cartons), and residual waste separately from households.
The same guidance says food waste must be collected at least weekly and free of charge. A council can have a later food-waste date if a transitional arrangement is in place. Dry recyclable streams were still due by 31 March 2026.
Bin colour, the weekday, and whether garden waste has a charge are not set on that national page. Use your council’s waste page, or the GOV.UK rubbish collection lookup, for the calendar.
Official sources
These pages are the reference for the notes above. Collection day, public-holiday changes and accepted items should be read there, or on your council’s own waste page.
Other nations
A sticker does not change the collection week. If you are labelling the bin, see where to put the sticker and how collection days work.
